Appointments

For non-urgent issues, please follow the guidelines below and choose the right service. An appointment may not be necessary.

This will help us to be more efficient by making an appointment available to you when you need it the most.

What happens next?

  • A GP will review your request.
  • We will contact you with the outcome within 24 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays.
  • Please do not call to chase your request unless this timeframe has passed.

  • Treatment room appointments
  • Vaccinations
  • Fit notes (sick notes)
  • Medication and prescription queries
  • Letters, medical records and general administrative requests

Submit a routine care or administrative request

Routine requests are typically dealt with within 48 hours.

Please note: GP appointments, including routine follow-ups, must be requested before 10am.

3. Home visits

Home visits are available for patients who cannot attend the surgery due to their medical condition. Please request these before 10am.

4. Need help completing the form?

5. Urgent and emergency help

For life-threatening emergencies, call 999 or attend A&E.

If you need urgent medical help outside the GP request window, contact NHS 111.

Change or Cancel an Appointment

If you are more than 10 minutes late, then you will be unable to be seen by the clinician in that appointment slot. You may be asked to wait until the doctor is able to see you or to rearrange another appointment. Please leave plenty of time for driving and parking at the surgery.

It is the patient’s responsibility to cancel unwanted appointments. Failure to do this results in a wasted appointment that could have been used for another patient.

Ways to cancel

  1. Telephone us on 01536 513494
  2. Cancel an appointment online
  3. Cancel using our online services
  4. Cancel through the NHS App

Missed Appointments and DNA’s

Do you feel frustrated when you cannot get an appointment?

Every year wasted appointments cost NHS £162 million. This can cause serious delays in treatment for other patients. On average approximately 150 patients each month Did Not Attend (DNA) their appointment. This means the patient did not turn up for the appointment and did not contact the surgery in advance to cancel or change the appointment. This currently results in approximately 40 hours of wasted clinical time each month.

Please call ahead if you think you might be late or no longer want your appointment.

Nurse Appointments

All nurse appointments, except emergency on-the-day appointments, can be pre-booked.

Check in and translation services

When you arrive for your appointment, please check in at the first floor reception.

Telephone translation services are available for appointments if these are requested in advance. Please ask someone to let us know you need this service so that it can be booked in the language you need at the time you and your doctor need it.

Arriving Late Procedure

If you are more than half your appointment time late, you will not be able to be seen in that appointment slot. All Health care professionals work to booked appointment times, and if that time has passed, they are not able to get it back. This means if you are too late for your appointment, you will have to book another appointment to be seen either later that day, or on another day.
